Previous experience
Simon started out as a land surveyor and engineer in South Africa and the United Kingdom before moving to RMB where he worked for 12 years. He gained experience in RMB’s structured finance, private equity and global markets businesses before establishing himself in the investment banking division in which he headed the real estate investment banking business for seven years. He has been a member of the FirstRand Bank property finance credit committee, the IBD investment committee and the RMB Westport investment committee.
Simon is the founder and CEO of Capensis Real Estate and CEO of Newpark REIT Limited (until 1 November 2022). In 2017, he relinquished his executive responsibilities at RMB Westport, a real estate development fund he had co-founded, which is focused on property development in sub-Saharan Africa.
